Utah has been our stomping ground our whole lives. We grew up in these neighborhoods, parks, and mountains. Utah has grown and changed a lot in our time, and we’ve grown with it. So has our tree company.

 

We’re Diana and Sterling Wilkerson (ISA Arborist), husband and wife, and owners of ClimbAxe Tree Services.

Sterling grew up in Morgan, Utah, and Diana in West Jordan. Through our business, we’ve connected the dots between the places that raised us. Today, we proudly serve residential and commercial properties across Morgan, Summit, Davis, Weber, Salt Lake, and Utah counties throughout the Wasatch Front and back.

 

ClimbAxe has grown the old fashioned way. Word of mouth. Referrals. A lifetime of support from our community, and a job well done time after time.​​​​​​​​​​​

Why We Do This

 

We love trees. Like, a lot.

 

Like many of you, our childhood picnics were shaded by big trees at local parks, and our hikes were lined with towering pines. And as millennials (say ay), we’re bringing back the green thumb just as aggressively as our sourdough starters.​​​​​​​​

 

We stand out because we want to educate people. We empower our community to love their trees. If you want to learn how to prune your own trees, we’ll actually come teach you at no cost to you.

 

Trees are rad. They improve our air quality, cool our homes, and quite literally act as nature’s best pollution filter.

Built From the Ground Up

 

Sterling started working with trees, helping neighbors and friends on weekends. Before long, all of our weekends were booked. We signed up for insurance, and slowly started tiptoeing toward making this an official business. Diana joined in, dragging brush, running ropes, and helping while we both still worked full time jobs.

 

Eventually we bought a dump trailer, and like most dreams, we blew our first engine. But we kept going.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

 

We purchased a truck and, with help from family, welded and rebuilt it into what we still jokingly call our apocalypse proof chip truck. That truck carried us through years of growth.​​​​​​​​​​​​​

 

Another engine blew. We fixed it. Our tradition is to eat burgers on top of the truck after each blown engine. Then… we keep going.

 

We had our first baby. Diana finally quit her full time job to help manage the business, a long worked for goal. Our business doubled in size. And last summer, we invested in our first official brand new chip truck. And wooo wee… it’s pretty, but more importantly, it’s a beast, built to keep up with our heavy workload.

 

We’re a normal couple and family, with no fancy investors. Just a family motto that we chase dreams in this family. Our love for trees, and for Utah where we call home, is the backbone of why we do this work.

Our Promise

 

The thing about Utah is people talk. And lucky for us, we’ve grown because they have.

 

We’ve grown every year because we take care of our customers. The people we serve are our neighbors.

 

If a tree doesn’t need to be removed, we’ll tell you.

If there’s a more affordable option, we’ll explain it.

​

If you have a tree emergency, we’ll show up and charge fairly and honestly.

​

And if we wouldn’t do it to our own trees, we won’t recommend it for yours.

 

We’ll teach you to care for your trees, because we believe knowledge builds trust. And maybe one day, you’ll share our name with your neighbor.

Where We’re Headed

 

We’re extremely proud of the company we’ve built, and we’re just getting started.

 

We’re getting more involved in our local communities through fun, catchy branding that encourages people to learn about their trees and love their trees. We hope to partner with local organizations promoting tree planting events. While most of our work has been residential, we’re continuing to grow and expand our commercial services as well.

 

Our goal is to continue growing each year while staying true to why we started.
